500 year old olive wood meets Solingen blacksmithing - the Güde Alpha Olive Bread Knife
The handmade bread knife comes from the Güde Alpha Olive knife series. The combination of 500 year old olive wood and traditional blacksmithing make this bread knife unique. The Güde company uses approx. 500 year old olive wood from sustainable wood cultivation for the handle scales. The slow growth of the olive tree gives the wood its unique grain and makes it more resistant. Olive wood handle scales are antibacterial and are comfortable to hold. Due to the different grains of the olive wood, each knife is unique. With a blade length of 21 cm, the bread knife cuts all types of bread of all sizes. Even rustic breadcrusts can be cut into even, representative slices with this knife. The knife including the handle has a total length of 32.5 cm. The blade is continuously connected to the tang. With a weight of 200 g it lies securely and easily in the hand and helps the user to achieve a clean cutting result. The bread knife has the typical serrated edge on one side. This preserves the cutting ability of the knife and facilitates the clean cutting work.
The hand-forged blade made of chrome-vanadium-molybdenum knife steel is made from one piece, ice-hardened and hand-sharpened. The Güde bread knife has a blade hardness of 56 HRC. Accordingly, a simple regrinding is possible without the material suffering as a result. The mixture of chrome-vanadium-molybdenum is mainly used by Güde for the production of high-quality knives. This means that the blade has an optimal level of corrosion resistance, i.e. it is rust-free. The blade steel is ice-hardened after processing. As a result, the knife remains as sharp as when used for the first time, even after repeated use.
Güde Alpha Olive Series:
The Güde Alpha Olive series is classic Solingen craft in a timelessly simple design, high-quality workmanship and extremely functional. The blades - made of rustproof Thyssen CMV steel - are drop forged, ice-hardened and sharpened by hand. The handle scales made of olive wood are riveted three times and give each Güde Alpha Olive chef's knife an individual and timeless look. The handle scales of the Güde Alpha Olive series are made from 100 to 500 years old, selected olive wood. This makes them very hard and robust. This series is a perfect combination of historical wood and traditional blacksmithing.
Company GÜDE Solingen:
Manufacturing forged knives of the highest quality and small numbers by hand was, is and remains the philosophy of the company - for four generations and without any compromises. The company GÜDE feels committed to the centuries-old art of knife making, which established the reputation of the city of Solingen.
