Noble wood meets traditional blacksmithing - the Güde Alpha barrel oak paring knife
The handcrafted paring knife comes from the Güde Alpha Fasseiche knife series, which was developed in cooperation between Güde and the star chef Harald Rüssel. The combination of fine wood and traditional blacksmithing make this kitchen knife unique. The wood of the handle comes from oak wine barrels that are over 80 years old - the so-called Fuder barrel wood. Due to the long period of ripening, the oak wood used is considered to be almost indestructible and extremely robust. The Güde paring knife from the Alpha Fasseiche series has a typically curved blade. Paring knives or in Solingen also called Zöppken are real traditional Solingen knives and have helped to make the city famous. The Güde paring knife easily peels fruit, vegetables and potatoes. Thanks to the extremely sharp blade, fruit and vegetables are peeled economically and cleanly. The curved 6 cm long blade adapts to every curve when peeling, thus enabling the blade to be guided safely and precisely. The hand-forged blade made of chrome-vanadium-molybdenum knife steel is made from one piece, ice-hardened and hand-sharpened. The material of the knife handle consists of the special plastic Hostaform.
Güde Alpha barrel oak series:
In cooperation with star chef Harald Rüssel, whose gourmet restaurant and Hotel Landhaus St. Urban is located in a side valley of the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer wine-growing region, Güde created this series - not only - for wine lovers and cooking enthusiasts. One-piece hand-forged blade made of chrome-vanadium-molybdenum knife steel. Further processing in over 40 manual operations. The handle shells are made of oak wood over 80 years old, which has become almost indestructible due to the long maturation. The blade is rust-free, ice-hardened and hand-sharpened - the handle is not dishwasher-safe.
Company GÜDE Solingen:

The company GÜDE feels committed to the centuries-old art of knife making, which established the reputation of the city of Solingen.
Carolin -
With this knife I now have the most important knives for all kinds of tasks in my kitchen. I'm a little annoyed that I did not come up with this blade shape before. It looked rather strange to me at first. With all peeling work, however, this is a lot faster and easier. You can just cut in a bow.
