The Gehring company - manufacture & family business
On October 1st, 1956, Hugo Gehring founded the Gehring cutlery company. The most important production area was initially the grinding of forged blades; Quickly, however, the company developed more and more into a pure cutlery and knife manufacturer with the aim of further developing the design and functionality of the cutlery and knives in addition to the proverbial Solingen quality. This is how the first-class Gehring damask knives came into the range. In December 2007 the brothers Hartmut Gehring and Volker Gehring took over the company.
Production in Solingen
In the Gehring GmbH plant in Solingen, around 50 employees produce a wide range of different cutlery, from paring knives to kitchen gadgets, from modern gifts to classic table cutlery and fine Gehring damask knives.
60 years - quality made in Solingen
When more and more manufacturers decided to relocate parts of their production to the Far East in the 1980s, the Gehring company took a different approach. Due to the expected loss of quality, it was decided to make greater use of the in-house qualifications and it was decided to continue to produce in Germany.
Known all over the world
The outcome of this strategic decision is valued around the world. World-famous chefs like Paul Bocuse work with Gehring's knives, and numerous lifestyle companies have their collections developed and produced by Gehring. Long-standing customers of the company appreciate the consistently high quality and particularly enjoy the unique Gehring damask knives.
