    The Solingen company Güde

Solingen has the nickname “City of Blades.” The city was already known as the center of the German cutlery industry in the Middle Ages. This is also thanks to the Güde company, among others. Knives of the highest quality have been forged here since 1910 and in the fourth generation. The company was founded by Franz Güde. After the founding period, his son Karl took over the manufacture and built up the Güde brand. The company places the highest priority on craftsmanship and is considered a creative and ambitious knife manufacturer. Small numbers of items are manufactured here with the highest quality.

    Solingen - A little review

Weapons were forged in the region around Solingen as early as the Middle Ages, before traditional companies such as Güde settled here. The numerous streams and rivers are the reason why many grinding shops and forges have settled here. Another advantage is the proximity to Cologne. From the 15th century, hardeners and grinders were allowed to form a guild. In the 16th century, many other manufacturers settled around the Solingen region.

    Tradition & Progress

Güde knives have a high recognition value. Güde knives are forged from a single piece of steel, then fitted with a handle and removed. By continuing this tradition, Güde has been able to offer high quality for decades. The Güde factory is located in the beautiful small town of Solingen in North Rhine-Westphalia. Here it is impossible to imagine the city without it.

    Handcraft with the highest precision

Even today Güde Solingen produces excellent chef's knives or kitchen knives and thus sticks to the tradition. In many German households, Güde chef's knives or Güde bread knives have become an indispensable part of the kitchen. In addition, high-quality damask knives are forged in the special edition area. One example is the collaboration with Damascus steel smith Markus Balbach. During production, great emphasis was placed on handcraft from the very beginning, and this philosophy has been retained over the generations to this day. Before a knife leaves the factory, it has to meet numerous quality criteria.
